This workshop introduces students to the application of ISO 13849-1, Safety of machinery — Safety-related parts of control systems — Part 1: General principles for design. This standard is harmonized in the European Union, and is influencing the design of safety rated controls for machinery around the world.

The course focuses on:

  • The connection between risk reduction and Performance Level
  • Understanding key terms - PL, MTTFd, DC, CCF
  • Understanding 'Fault Exclusion'
  • Software Verification & Validation
  • Analyzing systems by hand
  • Application of ISO 13849-2
  • Use of analytical software like IFA SISTEMA.

The third day of this workshop focuses on using software to analyze examples.

We are focused on your success, and we want to ensure that you get the most out of our workshops. To succeed in this workshop, students need to have a good understanding of risk and risk assessment methods. This can be achieved in a few ways:

  1. Attend our RA2W Risk Assessment Workshop.
  2. Attend another risk assessment course provided by a different trainer or school. Please provide proof of attendance.
  3. Experience. We'd like to have a short conversation with you just to make sure you've got what you need.

If you're not sure if you have what you need, contact Customer Service by email, or call us at +1 (519) 650-4753. We're here to help!

Copies of the standards are NOT PROVIDED.
